Tour of the barrel cellar and museum

Visit the largest barrel cellar in the Médoc and its museum

Our barrel cellar is a real place of wonder that will appeal to all your senses!

Sight, with the harmony of the cellar’s volume, colours and geometry. Smell, with the very characteristic fresh smells of oak mixed with those of wine. Sound, with masterful acoustics similar to a cathedral. Touch, with the oak wood at hand to be gently touched. And finally, Taste, with the tasting of 3 selected wines that concludes this tour.

The museum is located on the terrace leading to the cellar. It presents old tools used in the past in the cellars. The centerpiece is a collector’s barrel, made from Morat oak (the last specimen from Colbert’s plantations in the Tronçais forest), displayed alongside various tools. In the walls, there are niches containing valves, bungs, augers, pipettes… The tools on display bear witness to the history of our winegrowing families. Two hanging displays made up of the staves and the head of a barrel show how the wine penetrates into the thickness of the oak. A perfect illustration of the exchanges between wine and oak during ageing!
